North Alabama Veterinary Emergency & Specialty
What To Expect
Emergency Triage When You Arrive
Our front desk staff will greet you and obtain as much information as possible regarding the nature of your pet’s emergency when you arrive. They will ask important questions that help us determine how critical your pet’s condition may be. This allows us to help more time-sensitive patients efficiently.
Our hospital is managed much like a human emergency room. Critical patients will be handled before non-life-threatening illnesses. Any patients that appear critical or have an issue that could become critical may be taken to our treatment area for further evaluation and/or treatment. Patients with non-life-threatening injuries will remain with their owners until seen by the veterinarian. As with all medical facilities, some basic information about you and your pet will be required.
Serious, life-threatening emergencies are a priority and will be dealt with before other patients with less severe conditions. Triaging and time-sensitive emergencies can, at times, cause longer wait times for less-critical patients, but we strive to be efficient and have a well-trained staff that minimizes wait times as much as possible.
Treatment Plan and Cost Estimate
Once our veterinarian has thoroughly evaluated your pet, a treatment plan and cost estimate will be provided to you. We are happy to answer any questions you may have regarding your pet’s treatment or disease process. We do require a full deposit of the estimate if your patient is hospitalized. We accept various payment options, and if your pet has insurance, we are happy to fill out the forms and assist you with the insurance claims process.
