North Alabama Veterinary ER + Specialty is here for you and your pets on nights, weekends, and holidays. We provide overnight hospitalization for critical patients and access to emergency care when your regular veterinarians are closed. We are here to handle unexpected emergencies and critical injuries when you need it most. As an extension of care, our team reports any emergency visits to your pet’s primary veterinarian for follow up treatment and care. Our staff consists of a team of highly trained, experienced veterinary professionals. Our staff members are trained to administer CPR and are adept at triaging patients. We receive in hospital continuing education monthly and attend an annual conference to receive continuing education for licensing renewal.
Our equipment & facilities include:
Intensive care unit with oxygen and temperature control
Surgical suite with state-of-the-art monitoring equipment, anesthesia machines, and a ventilator
Digital radiography will be emailed to your pet’s primary care veterinarian
Complete in–house chemistry, complete blood count, blood gas, urinalysis, and coagulation analysis
Limited equipment for exotic and pocket pets

Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Services
Our emergency department includes an intensive care unit (ICU) continuously monitored by emergency veterinarians and veterinary technicians. The ICU routinely performs electrocardiography, manometry (blood pressure), and pulse oximetry (blood oxygen saturation). Diagnostic information is quickly available with our in-house laboratory and digital radiology equipment, and our ICU is also equipped with a highly visible isolation area.
